1st Annual Comstock Classic Fall Run
Invitation from our friends at the Comstock AMCA Chapter
AMCA Members:
You are invited to join the Comstock Chapter for three great days of riding antique motorcycles and fun during the inaugural Comstock Classic in beautiful Minden, Nevada, October 13 thru 15, 2017. The Comstock Classic will be based out of the Carson Valley Inn and the event will include three fantastic rides over the three days. From historic mining towns of the high desert, to quaint settlements along the foothills of the Sierras, to the heavenly views of Lake Tahoe, the rides have something for everyone. In addition to the rides, there will be a poker run and banquet, where awards will be presented in several categories.
Friday’s loop, the Oldest Towns Loop, is approximately 120 miles in length and will consist of riding through and visiting some of Nevada’s oldest towns, Genoa and Dayton, as well as some other historic towns such as Virginia City and Carson City. The route will ascend three significant summits, (Kingsbury Grade, Mt. Rose, and Geiger Grade) winding riders from the high desert to the alpine forest and back. Along the way there will be plenty of time to see the historic sites and countryside, take a dip in Lake Tahoe, shop, or grab a bite to eat.
The Walker River Loop will take place on Saturday, is approximately 140 miles in length, and will include a poker run. Twisting along the east and west forks of the Walker River, the route will consist of poker run stops in Walker and Bridgeport, California and Wellington, Nevada. Again, there will be plenty of time to take in other sites including, but not limited to Twin Lakes, the famous ghost town of Bodie, or grabbing a bite to eat. Saturday will conclude with a banquet and awards ceremony at the Carson Valley Inn, where plenty of spirits will be consumed.
Featuring more curvaceous roads, the Markleeville Loop on Sunday, will include a short approximate 80 run though Markleeville, California and back to Minden via incredible Monitor Pass. Along the way, riders can stop in Markleeville for breakfast, or carry on to Monitor Pass and enjoy the incredible vistas on the way down the mountain to Topaz Lake before heading back to Minden.
